Coffee with the City Planners

New BMX Track

BMX is a great way for the youth of Rapid City to stay busy and in shape! We are very excited about building the new BMX track in the Robbinsdale area this winter. We are looking forward to seeing the boys and girls ripping around the track on their bikes! (Above is a news clip from KOTA Territory News about the growth of BMX Racing in Rapid City.)

We hope everyone is staying busy and cool this summer! We know we are staying busy finishing up all of our summer work and are looking to add work to our list for this fall- here are three of our most recent awarded projects:

This project will consist of the construction of a new 4,258 square foot masonry building to serve as Interstate Batteries' new location in Casper, Wyoming including retail and shop space.

DCI/WRF/Custer Water - Awarded Projects

The spring and summer months are definitely a very busy time for everyone here at RCS Construction, Inc. With three recently awarded projects, looks like it is going to get even busier! Our recently awarded projects are as follows:

DCI Office Building (Dept. of Criminal Investigation)
CMAR - Construction Manager at Risk

Contract: $886,688.00

WRF Potable Water Improvements
This project will consist of the improvements to the current WTF Potable Water System including a new potable water metering facility, building plumbing improvements, and a new shop boiler and water heater.
Contract: $739,295.00
Owner: City of Rapid City
Architect/Engineer: Banner Associates, Inc.

Custer Water System Improvements
This project generally consists of the demolition and replacement of process piping and appurtenances. The removal and replacement of flow meter, aerator, filter media, and ARVS. Plus the installation of a new chemical fee system.
Contract: $535,000.00
Owner: City of Custer
Architect/Engineer: AE2S, Inc.

WDT Public Safety Ribbon Cutting

Another ribbon cutting at Western Dakota Tech this week! This ribbon cutting ceremony unveiled the new Public Safety Training Building at WDT which will help train law enforcement, paramedic and firefighting students with more life-like scenarios! Progress on Pennington County Highway Dept.

Progress is being made at the Pennington County Highway Department project! The crews just pulled the two existing fuel tanks out of the ground after installing two new fuel tanks a short distance away. Also, if you have driven by in the past couple days you might have noticed the large crane erecting the precast panels for the 24,300-square foot maintenance and office facility! The entire office facility will be made of these precast panels. Great stuff – got to love when it all starts coming together!

Woodstave Penstock - Awarded Project

Last week, RCS Construction, Inc. was awarded the Woodstave Penstock Replacement Project in Spearfish, South Dakota. This project will consist of the replacement of: two woodstave penstocks with high-density polyethylene pipe; the improvements of the penstock drain system; fencing; gates; and the abandonment of two 42" woodstave penstocks. Woodstave penstocks were the original method for transporting water from a body of water into hydroelectric power plants. Maintenance Work Downtown

PARKING RAMP CLOSURES
Please be advised that the second and third levels of the parking ramp in downtown Rapid City will be closed over Easter weekend (Friday, April 14th - Monday, April 17th) for maintenance. Street Closures

Please be advised that beginning today, March 27th, 2017, Baldwin Street from Wedgewood Drive to South Berry Pine Road will be closed to through traffic due to street and utility reconstruction work. Pine Ridge/West River Periodontics - Awarded Projects

RCS Construction, Inc. was awarded two new projects in the last week! West River Periodontics and Pine Ridge Quarters Apartment Building. Things are about to get really busy around here!

Pine Ridge Quarters Apartment Building: This project will consist of the construction of a 19,728 square foot, single story apartment building. This new apartment building will serve as staff quarters at the Pine Ridge IHS housing compound. The awarded contract amount for this project is $4,433,685.00.

West River Periodontics: This project will consist of a new 8,407 square foot dental facility including reception/waiting area, offices, treatment and surgery areas, staff lounge and locker room, storage rooms, restrooms, and a laundry room. The awarded contract amount for this project is $2,258,000.00.

Rushmore Crossing Building S2 - Awarded Project

RCS Construction, Inc. was recently awarded the contract for the Rushmore Crossing S2 project in the amount of $1,513,805.00. This project will consist of a 25,000 square foot retail addition in between Ross: Dress for Less and Sam's Club. This addition will house three different retail spaces.
