Spearfish WWTP Equal Basin

The Spearfish Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Equalization Basin project was a key upgrade that continues to support reliable wastewater treatment services for the community. The addition of the equalization basin provides plant operators with the ability to temporarily redirect wastewater flow, allowing for routine maintenance at the lift station without disrupting service. The basin was constructed with an ultra-high-molecular-weight plastic liner to help prevent deterioration and seepage, ensuring long-term durability.

The project also included both manual and automatic diversion systems for improved operational control, as well as a 10-foot wildlife fence to protect the liner. Completed at approximately $670,000 and under the original budget, this project remains an important investment in Spearfish's infrastructure, helping maintain efficient and dependable wastewater operations for years to come.
