RCS Construction, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Bob Scull, who grew up in a family of skilled carpenters and carried that legacy forward with a vision to build something of his own. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and gaining valuable experience in both fieldwork and engineering, Bob returned to Rapid City and established RCS as a general construction company.

By the mid-1990s, RCS Construction began gaining momentum, completing a variety of local projects and earning a reputation for quality, reliability, and community commitment. As the company grew, so did its capabilities. By 2000, RCS had expanded into street and utility work, quickly becoming a recognized leader in public infrastructure and civil construction. A few years later, in 2005, Bob’s extensive leadership experience helped drive the introduction of CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) services, allowing the company to better manage complex projects through more collaborative and efficient methods.

In the years that followed, RCS continued to grow its services and reputation. In 2010, the company launched its design-build services, offering clients a streamlined approach from concept to completion. By 2015, RCS had added excavation, sitework, drilling, and demolition to its portfolio—further diversifying its expertise and ability to deliver comprehensive construction solutions under one roof.

As RCS celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022, it reaffirmed its dedication to delivering high-quality, cost-effective projects while maintaining a client-first approach. Today, under the leadership of Bob Scull and his sons—RC Scull, President, and Josiah Scull, Estimator and Project Manager—the company continues to evolve, bringing together innovation, integrity, and experience to meet the growing needs of clients and communities across South Dakota and beyond. With major projects now exceeding $45 million in scope and contractor licenses throughout the region, RCS remains firmly focused on the future driven by a legacy of craftsmanship and a steadfast commitment to excellence.
