Woodstave Penstock

RCS Construction was proud to be part of the Woodstave Penstock Replacement project, a major upgrade to Rapid City's hydroelectric system. The project replaced two original woodstave penstocks with durable high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, improving the reliability and efficiency of water delivery for power generation. Additional work included upgrades to the penstock drainage system, installation of new fencing and gates to enhance safety, and the safe abandonment of the original 42-inch penstocks.
By modernizing this critical infrastructure, the project helps ensure consistent performance and supports the region's long-term energy needs. These improvements strengthen the reliability of Rapid City's hydroelectric system while contributing to a dependable and sustainable source of renewable energy for the community.
